后现代小说《洛丽塔》的矛盾性研究

【摘要】 美籍俄裔小说家纳博科夫的成名作《洛丽塔》自诞生之日起,就引起了评论界及读者的争议不断。本文试图从小说《洛丽塔》在叙事手法、人物、时间主题以及文化等等各个方面体现出的矛盾性切入,探讨由这些矛盾性所体现的文本的后现代特征。第一:叙事技巧上,初读之下,第一人称自白忏悔式文体给读者以真实感,但细读之后,文本却是处处充满着虚构性,体现出后现代文本的游戏性和“可写性”。再者:亨伯特、洛丽塔及其他人物身上也具有矛盾性。体现出后现代语境中,主体“人”的“不确定性”和“去中心性”。第三:时间的矛盾性。时间成为主题以及文本中时间矛盾性的处理都体现出后现代主义的特征。最后:文中描绘的美国后工业消费社会与纳博科夫或亨伯特们这些精英主义者所幻想的“美国”大相径庭,体现了后现代大众文化与精英文化的矛盾。这些方面的矛盾性使得文本充满了游戏性和不确定性,文本本身拥有了多元性和开放性,体现出了《洛丽塔》作为后现代文本的特性。更多还原

【Abstract】 Since the very first day of its publication, Lolita, the masterpiece of Vladimir Nabokov, has been in the swirl of discussion and controversy of critics and readers. By probing into the contradictions reflected in its narrative mode, the characters, the time theme and cultures, the thesis tries to explore Lolita’s postmodern characteristics. To begin with, the first glimpse of the novel impresses the readers with a strong sense of authenticity by its first-person confessional narrative mode. Whereas a second close reading will reveal clear traces of fabrication and manipulation of the novel, which exhibit its playfulness and renders it as a readerly text in a postmodern perspective. Chapter Two focuses on the contradictive facets of characters in the novel including Lolita, Humbert and Quilty, which unveil the uncertainty and decentrality of human beings in the postmodern society. Then, the thesis deals with the contradiction revealed in the sense of time in Lolita. The very act of treating time as its theme and the contradiction of the sense of time both exhibit the postmodern characteristics of the novel. The last chapter discusses the huge differences between the real postmodern society in America and the imagined perfect one in the elitist mind of Humbert, exposing the contradiction between the elite culture and mass culture.
