美中医学院学生培养比较研究

【摘要】 中国经济在最近几年时间里发展迅速,已跃升为仅此于美国和欧盟的世界第三大经济体,但世界卫生组织的报告显示我国人均享有的医疗服务和医疗保健在世界排名仍比较靠后,为提高我国人均享有的医疗服务和医疗保健的水平,我国需大力发展以培养医学人才为主要任务的高等医学教育。新的医学教育提出新的医学人才培养理念:“生物-心理-社会”模式提出培养医学生从生理、病理、心理、社会等方面来考察人类的健康和疾病的思维习惯,这种新的医学人才培养理念将推动医学教育各方面的改革和发展;在当前这个新兴学科,边缘学科不断涌现,新知识,新技术急剧产生的世纪,任何领域都需不断发展以适应变化,医学教育领域更是如此,在结合自身实际的前提下,学习和借鉴发达国家在医学领域人才培养的经验和方法将有助于我国高等医学教育的发展,利于培养更多适应社会需求的医学人才。本研究分为六个部分,在简要介绍中美两国医学教育发展历史后,分别以美国康涅狄格大学医学院和我国四川大学华西临床医学院为例,对其学生培养进行比较分析,并在此基础上对我国医学院学生培养提出一些思考与建议。

【Abstract】 China has become the world’s third largest economy following the United States of America (USA) and the European Union (EU). However, according to a groundbreaking report by the World Health Organization (WHO) released in 2000, with data on the health systems of 191 member countries, China was only ranked No. 144 in producing good health outcomes. The unbalanced development of economy and health care in China necessitates an enhanced growth in heath care system. A key aspect of this growth is to improve medical education to prepare future physicians that are competent to contribute to the overall well-being of individuals and society in the 21st century.The modern medicine is transforming itself from disease-focused practice to address the medical, social, and economic needs of each patient. In response to this changing circumstance, medical education should root biomedical and clinical education in a set of core values that also include professionalism and humanism. The development of an education model to incorporate“Bio-Psycho-Social Medicine”will create challenges as well as opportunities in modernizing medical education in China and achieving the ultimate goal to provide better health care to our people.My thesis aims to elucidate the history, current status and future development opportunities of medical education in China. The data and conclusions of my thesis are based on literature review, comparisons and cases analyses. First, a general introduction of medical education is through comparisons of medical education between China and Western Europe as well as the USA. Second, detailed analyses are achieved by the compare and contrast between two cases: the education of medical students at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Connecticut, USA and The West China Center of Medical Sciences of Sichuan University in Sichuan, China. In conclusion, there are challenges as well as opportunities in the future development of medical education in China. Some possible approaches are: 1) Unifying education time length, 2) Revising curriculum to reflect the model of“Bio-Psycho-Social Medicine”, 3) Enhancing clinical skills of medical students, and 4) Training physician scientists (MD/PhD).
