【Abstract】 Multichannel seismic reflection, magnetism and drilling data show that there are Mesozoic strata in the East China Sea (ECS) shelf basin. Comprehensive analyses of regional strata, palaeontology and palaeoenvironment indicate that Mesozoic marine facies strata may have developed in the southern part of the ECS shelf basin. A marine depositional environment might exist in the southeastern coastal area of China during Mesozoic, including the sea area to the southwest of Taiwan, eastern Guangdong Province, and western Fujian Province. This coastal area might be a gulf extending into land from the western Pacific Ocean or from Tethys passing across eastern or central parts of the South China Sea. It could extend northward as far as the southern part of the ECS shelf basin.更多还原
