雪崩模式阻性板探测器的前期研制

【摘要】 雪崩模式阻性板探测器(RPC)的研制课题是中国科学院高能物理研究所自拟项目。课题选择为雪崩模式阻性板探测器(RPC)的前期研制,主要工作是对试验束中电磁量能器的研制和性能测试。阻性板探测器(RPC)可应用于各种大型粒子物理实验装置,包括取样量能器和μ子探测器,目前BESIII中的μ子鉴别器所采用的正是流光模式的RPC。而随着对撞机对撞能量和频率越来越高,对撞的末态粒子密度大,计数率高,流光模式由于流光放电信号大,恢复时间长,能够忍受的计数率太低,不能满足新型对撞机的要求,而工作在雪崩模式的阻性板探测器则能够很好的满足这种要求。试验束是测试各种探测器包括阻性板探测器性能的重要手段。课题主要通过从BGO晶体量能器的均匀性,能量分辨率,能量线性,双粒子鉴别,等各项指标对晶体量能器的内部结构进行调整,最终成功研制出了能够满足在试验束中对量能器的特殊要求的电磁量能器,提高了BEPCI(I北京正负电子对撞机)上的试验束的单粒子鉴别能力,增强了试验束对各种粒子探测器包括RPC的性能测试水平。为以后雪崩模式阻性板探测器在试验束上的性能测试打下了坚实的基础。

【Abstract】 The thesis of Research of Avalanche Mode Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) is the self-made subject by CAS Institute of High Energy Physics. The name of thesis is the Research of Avalanche Mode Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC), the work of this topic is the Research and Performance Test of Electromagnetic Calorimeter in testing beam.The research of avalanche mode Resistive Plate Chamber detcctor (RPC) can be applied to various large particle physics experiment devices, including sampling calorimeter andμparticle detector, the streamer mode RPC is used byμ-identifiers in BESIII at present. However, with the high collision energy and frequency of Particle Collider, the density of collision tip particle and count rate goes up, In the streamer mode, because of the strong Streamer Discharge signal, long recover time, count rate can bearing too low, which can’t meet the requirement of Collider, but the Resistive Plate Chamber in avalanche mode can do.Testing beam is an important means of testing various detectors including the RPC. The trial aim mainly at adjusting internal structure of BGO crystal calorimeter by the Performance parameters of Uniformity, Linear energy, Energy Resolution and Two-particle identification, so we can develop the Electromagnetic calorimeter that Meet the special requirements in testing beam, raised the Single-particle identification capability of BEPCII (Beijing Electron Positron Collider) in the beam test and enhanced the level of beam performance test to various particle detectors, which laid a solid foundation for the performance test of Avalanche Mode Resistive Plate Chamber detcctor in testing beam.
