小学低年级英语故事教学实施策略的个案研究

【摘要】 社会生活的信息化和经验活动全球化,使英语成为我国对外开放和国际交往中不可或缺的工具。2001年9月,新的《义务教育阶段英语课程标准》(实验稿)和《关于积极推进小学开设英语课程的指导意见》等纲领性文件均指出教学要以学生为主体,要考虑到学生身心发展规律和兴趣特点,让学生在轻松自然而活泼有趣的环境中学习英语,实现寓教于乐。本研究以深圳市宝安区BE学校小学部为个案进行研究,分析BE小学低段英语教学中存在的问题,并探究原因。对BE学校小学部低年级英语故事教学进行实践论述,试图证明故事教学在小学低年级英语教学中的优势,是一种行之有效的教学法。BE学校小学部低年级英语教师习惯了以教师为中心的课堂,在教学实践中,仍然摆脱不了单纯语言知识传授和语言技能训练的倾向,教学方法单一,忽视了小学生的身心发展特点,淡化了学生的主体作用,降低了学生学习英语的兴趣,限制了他们学习主动性的发挥,影响了学习效果。在低年级实施英语故事教学实践中,根据学生的年龄特征和学习特点,把新授的教学内容编进有趣的故事中,创设活泼生动的语言环境,通过听故事、讲故事、演故事等教学活动,激发学生的英语学习兴趣,提高学生口语的流利程度,促进语言交际能力的培养。经过BE学校小学部低年级英语老师将近一学年的努力,实践表明学生英语学习态度有了转变,学习积极性提高了,课堂英语学习气氛浓厚,学习效果明显好转。

【Abstract】 The information of life and globalization of experience activities have made foreign language, especially English, an indispensable tool in international communication and the Opening-up Policy in China. Some programmatic documents such as The English Curriculum Criterion in Compulsory Education phase (for experimental use) published in September 2001 and The Guidelines on Promoting English Teaching in Primary Schools point out that English teaching should be student-centered and that much attention should be paid to the pupils’ physical and psychological development and their interests, so that they would learn English in carefree and lively atmosphere.BE school of Baoan District of Shenzhen being a case, this study attempts to analyze the problems of English teaching of lower grades in primary school and probe into the causes. Based on the practical discussion of English teaching of lower grades in BE primary school, this paper tries to prove that story teaching is an effective teaching method that has outstanding advantages. English teachers in lower grades of BE primary school are accustomed to teacher-center classroom teaching. They tend to apply one single teaching method to convey knowledge of English to the pupils and train their language skill. This will have a bad impact on the learning effect since it neglects the characteristics of physical and psychological development of the pupils, weakens the pupils’ power as a subjective role, reduces the pupils’ interest and restricts their initiative. The English teachers of BE primary school worked hard for about a year to experiment on story teaching. According to the age characteristics and learning strategies of the pupils, make up interesting stories out of the new teaching contents to create lively and vivid language environment and stimulate the pupils’ interest in English, enhance the pupils’ fluency by listening to stories, telling stories and role playing stories. The result shows that the pupils’ attitude towards English has changed and their enthusiasm for English has been pro voked. Thereby, the learning effect is visibly improved.
