关联理论在公示语汉英翻译中的应用

【摘要】 对公示语汉英翻译有多种理论解释,其中关联理论是其中之一。将关联理论引入翻译研究,开启了翻译研究的新角度,很好地解释了翻译中许多复杂的现象。关联理论强调翻译的研究对象是人的认知结构和认知环境,翻译是语际间的明示——推理的阐释性言语交际行为,这为翻译研究提供了一个较好的理论框架;而关联理论所追求的“最佳语境效果”也正是公示语翻译意欲达到的目标。本文即在前人研究的基础上运用关联理论对公示语汉英翻译进行系统的研究。首先,本文用关联理论解释了公示语汉英翻译中的语用失误,对失误原因进行了归类。其次,本文用关联理论对公示语汉英翻译过程作出解释,将关联理论指导下的公示语翻译过程总结为三步:第一、译者通过推理,明确原文交际意图;第二、译者对译文读者认知语境作出正确估计;第三、译者选择适当的翻译方法和策略,完成原文与译文间的最佳关联转换。最后,根据关联理论和汉语公示语自身的特点,本文借鉴“归化”和“异化”的翻译方法,将公示语汉英翻译策略归纳为以下四类:“异化”性明示:“直接”翻译;“归化”性明示:“间接”翻译;“归化”类借译;“归化”类仿译。

【Abstract】 Relevance theory is one of the theories applied to Chinese-English Translation of Public Signs. Translation study is introduced to the relevance theory, which broadens a new horizon and leads to the solution to many complicated phenomenon greatly in translation. Relevance theory emphasizes that what translation studies on is the human cognitive structure and cognitive environment and translation is a dual ostensive-inferential linguistic communicative process, which provides the translation study with a better theoretical framework. Both Relevance theory and Translation of Public Signs aim to achieve the "best contextual effect"Based on the previous research, this dissertation is to apply Relevance theory to study the Translation of Public Signs systematically. Firstly, this dissertation explains the pragmatic failure in public signs Translation with Relevance theory and classifies the reasons for the failure.Secondly, based on the Relevance Theory, the dissertation makes a highly theoretical explanation for the process of C-E Translation of Public Signs and summarizes the following three steps:1) through the deduction, understanding the communicative intention of the text,2) assessing the target audience’s cognitive environment correctly; 3) choosing a suitable translation strategy to obtain the transference of the optimal relevance between the original text and the translation.Finally, according to relevance theory and the characteristics of Chinese public signs, the author borrows the translation method of "domestication" and "foreignization" to divide the translation strategies into four types:"foreignization" of express:the interpretation of a direct translation; "domestication" of express:indirect translation; "domestication":borrowing translation; "domestication":modeling translation.
