【Abstract】 as the spirit of planning reform advocated by the ministry of housing and urban-rural development in recent years, urban "double repair" is of guiding significance to urban construction and development, among which the content of "cultural repair" can improve urban taste and promote the development of modern architectural culture. At present, regional characteristics and historical and cultural accumulation are attracting more and more attention. This paper takes the big and small river street project in Changde city as the research object, combines the characteristics of plan & design and antique architectural design, analyzes the relationship between cultural representation and modern design, and discusses the role and methods of culture in architectural design.
