【Abstract】 The idea of green development is an important part of Xi Jinping’s ecological civilization thought. Its formation is jointly promoted by many factors, such as the background of the times, theoretical origin and practical basis. Its main contents include five aspects: value goal, ideological premise, important means, technical support and system guarantee. Xi Jinping’s green development thought enriched and developed Marxist ecological thought,pointed out the direction of the construction of beautiful China, and highlighted the great power in the global ecological governance, which has extremely important theoretical and practical significance. Accurately understanding and grasping the spiritual essence and connotation of Xi Jinping’s green development thought aims at sublimating the concept of green development, strengthening the consciousness of ecological protection and focusing on the practice of ecological civilization.
