【Abstract】 China has lots of broad seismic zones and earthquakes occur frequently and severely. Many of the dams constructed and proposed are located in the high intensity seismic zones. Once the earthquakes occur,the damages to the dams will be a direct threat to the safety of downstream people,their properties and various social activities as well as the social fortune. Therefore,the earthquake has increasingly become people’s focus and seismic disaster reduction has become an essential purpose in the structural design of dams.
