【Abstract】 Great achievements have been made in water pollution prevention and control in China in the forty years of reform and opening-up. This paper reviews the development process of water pollution prevention and control in China, summarizes the characteristics of water pollution prevention and control in different stages of China’s major basins, and also proposes the management suggestions for the protection of water ecological environment in 2035.
