【Abstract】 A method is presented here for color image compression which is based on efficient combination of Block Truncation coding (BTC) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA ). We first apply PCA to distinguish pixels of a color image into two groups so that vector quantization is finished simply . Then we use BTC to encode pixels of these two groups simply and effciently .
