【Abstract】 At six p. m. on 3 August 2014,an earthquake with M6. 5 magnitude struck Ludian Country. The epicenter is latitude 27. 1 degrees north and longitude 103. 3 degrees East and the focal depth is 12 km,Zhaotong City of Yunnan province. No casualties were caused in Sichuan Province. Three level emergency responses were launched by the Earthquake Administration of Sichuan Province. Sichuan disaster area is located on the south part of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture and the edge of Hengduan Mountains. Due to the delay of seismic wave,a few of buildings were collapsed and no casualties were reported in Sichuan Province. However,rural building destruction was still quite serious because the rural buildings were built on the hillside and most of them failed to strictly meet the anti-seismic requirements issued.
