【Abstract】 Professor Guo Lingzhi is one of the most famous Chinese structural geologists, an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and has been working for about 70 years on teaching and scientific study. In China, he is one of the earliest and outstanding scholars "using plate tectonics theory to study China geology and tectonics" Since the 1960’s, he and his research group have been studying geotectonics of South China. They discovered, for the first time, the important evidence of Proterozoic plate movement in the early period of Earth evolution, including ophiolitic melange, CA-type volcanic rock series and island arc-type flysch, proposing the eight geological marks confirming ancient plate boundaries within continental block. In the past 70 years, he loves his motherland, devotes himself to geosciences and has acquired fruitful results in teaching and researching. The author introduced his learning experience, some important results and scholarships, displayed an older scientist’s elegant demeanor and successful path.更多还原
