【Abstract】 Dai Zhen passed the imperial exams at the provincial level in the 27 th year of Emperor Qianlong(1762 in Qing Dynasty) when he was 40 years old. His three eight-part essays of this examina?tion selected here were not included in the various versions of Dai Zhen’s works but in Qianlong Ren?wuke Jiangnan Xiangshi Shisifang Tongmenlu, which has been stored in Wenzhou Library of Zhejiang Province.
