【Abstract】 The Jiashi region is located at a slope between the Kashgar depression and Bachu uplift in the northwestern part of the Tarim Basin,the value of gravity is relatively low(-240~-280 10-5m/s2) in the Kashgar depression,but it is relatively high(-100 10-5m/s2) in the Bachu uplift,and the strong earthquake swarms(Ms=6.0~6.6) in the Jiashi region occurred during the period from 1997 to 1998.In this paper,a comparative study on the active tectonic environment in the Jiashi region,Xinjiang,is carried out,and that of other 14 strong earthquake swarms(Ms=5.1~8.7) at home and abroad is reviewed.It is found that the duration of strong earthquake swarms varies in a range from 25 minutes and 3 years,the strong earthquake swarms can repeatedly occur in the same area where there are the conjugated and recessive fractures in rigid blocks,and all the strong shock series are the intra-plate shallow-hypocenter earthquakes.更多还原
