【Abstract】 In the course of the birth and development of the notion of cultural heritage, surrounding issues of historical human society and natural environment form the backdrop for cultural heritage, essential if conservation is to be improved. The background environment of the Forbidden City has accrued over a long period of time, its underlying structure formed by the overall urban layout of Ming-Qing Beijing. Its aesthetic, scenic character was created by traditional urban design and architectural art, as well as by the natural environment created by earlier generations of residents, so that many cultural relics sites now constitute important elements in the environmental totality. Following revolutionary changes in Beijing municipality’s nature, the Forbidden City’s background environment suffered change and destruction created by failures in urban planning. The realisation of the current urban plan for preserving Beijing as a historic cultural city and establishing a buffer zone around the Forbidden City will purify and restore the original background environment of Beijing’s Forbidden City.更多还原
