The influence of weathering fissure water on the stability of high fill embankment
【Abstract】 The influence of weathering fissure water on the stability of high fill is mainly studied. Through research of high fill projects of several airports in red layer regions,it can be concluded that the weathering fissure water overflowing from the top of the mudstone is one of the most important factors to assess the stability of high fills in the southwest red bed area. The research approach is that when weathering fissure water seeps into high fill body,it will wet and soften the sandstone filling material,and the stability of high fill slope can be assessed by analysis the property change of filling material. The calculation and analysis is performed on the section WDX-06. According to field investigation,it is found that the geological condition is poor in the high fill subgrade of the airports. It is mainly consist of alluvial gravels and cobbles, there is great possibility of the distribution of thick bedded mudstone underneath.Groundwater flows over the top of the mudstone,and then seeps into the high fill body which would humidify and soften the soil,lower the stability of high fills.
