【Abstract】 The new literature critical methodologies such as narration and female literature critics on the research of Strange Tales of a Long Studio from the West have been a mainstream in China in recent years. On the contrary, the acceptance in Japan as one from the same Chinese-character cultural circle is an important reference to our nation’s research. This dissertation focuses on the research and acceptance of Strange Tales of a Long Studio in the neoteric Japanese literature. It intends to exhibit the tendency in the process of translation, research and the effect of the works as a material in Children Literature. By analyzing the influence of Chinese research and the new tendency in Japan, this dissertation explores the modern significance of Strange Tales of a Long Studio. The meaning of acceptance in this dissertation combines receiving and assimilation. Compared to simply receiving the content, the digesting of the literature in its own culture should be paid to a higher degree.Firstly, retrospect to the completion and publish of Strange Tales of a Long Studio, chapter one focuses on introducing the prevalence and evaluations of the works in Japan. The formation of acceptance in modern Japanese literature is based on the comparison of the concepts "ghost", "spirit" and "monster" in Chinese and Japanese literatures. It also can be interpreted as a major clue to understand the acceptance of Strange Tales of a Long Studio originally from "Chinese delight". Chapter two focuses on the modern translation of Strange Tales of a Long Studio from SHIBADA Tenma and TANAKA Kodaro. It compares the translations of SHIBADA Tenma, TANAKA Kodaro, TSUDAWA Taro, MURAKAMI Tomoyuki and TANAKA Katsumi etc. The dissertation also introduces the translation activities in recent years. In chapter three, the translation of Strange Tales of a Long Studio has been analyzed in the "acceptance of modern Japanese literature." This dissertation investigates the translations of KUNIKIDA Dokki, AKUTAGAWA Ryunosuke, DAZAI Osamu, HINO Ashihei, YASUOKA Shotaro and KOBAYASHI Kyoji. Chapter three interprets the relationship between the contents of translation and the explanation of the author as well as their contributions to the prevalence of Strange Tales of a Long Studio. In chapter four, in the analysis of Strange Tales of a Long Studio, the author tries to grasp the general feature of the research on Strange Tales of a Long Studio in Japanese literature from research articles, papers and Chinese history written by Japanese scholars.Chapter five focuses on one non-Chinese filed, Japanese children literature. It discusses the creativity in Strange Tales of a Long Studio and its relationship with Japanese children literature. It illustrates the activities of edition and translation of Strange Tales of a Long Studio in neoteric times, modern times and recent years. Chapter six focuses on "the Prospect of the Research on Strange Tales of a Long Studio " in Japan and it also interprets the influence of Chinese research to the Japanese research. Based on the new tendency of Japanese research, the dissertation also predicts the degree of acceptance of Chinese classic literature Strange Tales of a Long Studio in Japan. With the higher degree to the recognition of Chinese modern society in Japan, on certain points, Strange Tales of a Long Studio can not act as a bridge for Japanese people to explore the foreign sentiment of old Chinese society any longer. Contrasting with the dilution of social background, as a literature itself, the study on romance and creativity in Strange Tales of a Long Studio has been enhanced. This dissertation focuses on the acceptance and study of Strange Tales of a Long Studio in neoteric Japanese literature. It reveals that the present significance of Strange Tales of a Long Studio is the literature itself. The translation in Japan is the modern interpretation and cassation of the literature itself. The maneuverability of Japanese research gives us new ideas on the study of Strange Tales of a Long Studio.
