【副题名】1910-1920年《小说月报》对“异域”的表述

【摘要】 本文通过对1910-1920年《小说月报》中与“异域”相关的文本的梳理与分析，试图回答文化“他者”是如何在特定的历史语境中被表述的这一核心问题，从而引导人们关注中国新文化孕育成型时期各种中外文化基因相互渗透的复杂态势。《小说月报》对“异域”的表述是通过对翻译文本的策略性调配达成的。栏目的设置与调整、为翻译小说配写序跋或按语等是最直接的表现方式。而影响这一表述过程及其实践效果的因素则非常复杂。简言之，其至少包括以下几点：首先是《小说月报》作为商务印书馆旗下的招牌文学刊物，其风格必须与商务“义”、“利”双赢的基调保持一致。而编辑人员本身的性格特质、兴趣爱好，对传统文学、西方文化所持的不同观念也会直接影响《月报》对“异域”的表述；其次，作者群的喜好与读者群的需求；再次，重大历史事件的促发；第四，时人对“异域”形象、观念的固定想象与理解；第五，各种文本之间意义互相激发、补充或消解产生的边际效应。更多还原

【Abstract】 This paper studies the representational strategy of the image of cultural Other during a specific historical and cultural context by analyzing all the texts on "foreign lands" in the Short Story Magazine (1910-1920) as a whole, in the purpose of presenting an original scene through which a complicated process of cultural conflux between Chinese traditional culture and Western culture can be retrieved and studied with extended details.The representation and construction of the "foreign lands" are fulfilled by the strategically arrangement of a variety of translated scripts, some of which are novels while the rest can be categorized as news reports, essays and brief information respectively. Photos and drawings showing different aspects of Western societies are also included.Yet this representational process is strongly influenced by many factors, such as the cultural attitudes towards the Other held by different authors or editors, the needs and aesthetic tastes of the readers, the unexpected influence of incidents of great historical importance and the cultural "stereotypes" toward foreigners hidden within traditional Chinese culture.更多还原
