【Abstract】 Niu-Li Factional Struggles was a famous political struggle in the middle and late Tang Dynasty, which had a significant impact on the extermination of Buddhism during the Huichang reign. The two parties had differences in their treatment of Buddhism due to their political positions and conflicts of interest. The Niu party tended to protect Buddhism, while the Li party supported repression. This antagonistic situation has directly affected the formulation and implementation of the policy of extermination of Buddhism during the Huichang reign, making it different and complex in different regions and times.
