【Abstract】 There are three types of errors in the explanations of idioms in The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary(the fifth edition): first,ignoring the historical evolution of idioms,such as the explanation of chou wei xiang tou(臭味相投),fu chang fu sui(夫唱妇随),yi si bu gua(一丝不挂) and zhan hua re cao(沾花惹草);second,mis-explaining the meaning of morphemes in idioms as in the cases of du dang yi mian(独当一面),gao wu jian ling(高屋建瓴),jie fa fu qi(结发夫妻),jian mo gu ji(肩摩毂击) and yi kou tong sheng(异口同声);and third,leaving out the explanation of some morphemes as in bao xin jiu huo(抱薪救火) and shen zhai da yuan(深宅大院).The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary should revise the wrong or missing explanations so as not to mislead readers.更多还原
