【Abstract】 Pound found a doctrine about the individual self in Confucius’ s thought as early as 1914. Fascinated by this doctrine, he then endeavored to synthesize it with his privileged egoism and aesthetic individualism, in the hope of formulating a theory that could enhance the modern artist’s project of building a compelling subjectivity. Pound’s reinterpretation of Confucian works from the perspective of Western liberalism at that time not only deconstructed the prevalent Western prejudice against Confucianism since Hegel, but also determined his lifelong belief in Confucianism and his commitment to disseminating Confucian teachings in the West through his writings and translations.更多还原
