在华留学生短视频社交媒体使用对其中国文化认同影响的研究

【摘要】 随着全球化的发展和信息传播技术的不断进步,人类社会相互依存的紧密关系使得跨文化传播成为学界业界讨论的热点。国际学生群体作为旅居者中的重要一部分,其跨文化认同与文化适应也引起了研究者的重视。与此同时,技术变革带来的媒介迭代让新媒体环境下的跨文化传播呈现出新特点,包含文字、图片、视频和声音等多种形式的社交媒体在旅居者的跨文化过程中扮演了重要角色。与图文分享的形式相比,短视频的盛行为技术与文化的互动带来新的阐释。因此,本文从文化认同的视角入手,以在华留学生为研究对象,深入考察在华留学生短视频社交媒体使用与其中国文化认同的关系。研究主要采用问卷调查和深度访谈相结合的方法,调查问卷主要从短视频平台使用行为的使用动机、内容生产和线上交往三个维度入手,探讨短视频使用对留学生群体中国文化认知、中国文化情感和中国文化行为意向的影响程度。实证研究发现,在华留学生短视频的多元使用动机会对其中国文化认同产生不同的影响。使用短视频的娱乐消遣动机和获取信息动机越强,在华留学生的中国文化认知和中国文化情感就越深。涵化动机越强,他们的中国文化情感则越深。值得强调的是,研究发现与其他大众媒介相比,短视频社交媒体在文化行为意向层面发挥了独特的优势。由于短视频沉浸式体验的特性,在华留学生从短视频使用中获得的拟态社会需求满足与其中国文化行为意向之间存在正相关关系。同时研究结果显示,短视频原创内容生产的使用频率对在华留学生的中国文化行为意向存在显著正向的影响。此外,回归分析表明,短视频平台的线上交往强度未能预测在华留学生的中国文化认同。深度访谈对研究结果进行了进一步的补充与阐释。访谈发现,留学生可能存在“异国情调”式文化认同。而对于短视频的使用,留学生作为观看者时,内容聚焦中国文化的流行元素,中国文化产品对其跨文化认同有着重要作用;作为内容生产者时,留学生常以传统文化为元素进行视频的拍摄与创作,在实践中加深对中国文化的认同。研究通过媒介的传播中介作用,将技术与文化进行联结。短视频对个体跨文化认同的影响将跨文化传播置于视觉符号的语境之下,为跨文化现象的研究提供了新思路与新视角。对新媒体传播效果与文化身份认同的互动予以关注,有利于更加深入地理解影响个体和群体媒介使用的社会文化语境,不仅是对既有理论的检验和延伸,也是对跨文化传播中文化认同研究领域的有效补充。论文探索了短视频在跨文化认同中的独特作用,并实证分析了短视频使用的不同维度与旅居者东道国文化认同之间的关系,丰富了国内媒介使用与文化认同的相关研究,同时也为中国文化的跨文化传播提供了新的启示。

【Abstract】 With the development of globalization and information technology,intercultural communication has become a hot topic.As an important part of sojourners,international students’ intercultural identity and acculturation have also attracted researchers’ attention.At the same time,cross-cultural communication takes on new characteristics in the new media era.Social media,including text,pictures,video and sound,play an important role in the cross-cultural process.The popularity of short video brings a new interpretation of the interaction between technology and culture.Therefore,from the perspective of cultural identity,this paper takes international students in China as the research object,and makes an in-depth study of the relationship between the short-video social media use and their Chinese cultural identification.The research mainly adopts the method of questionnaire survey and in-depth interview.Starting from the three dimensions of short-video usage—motivation,user generated content production and online communication,the research discusses the influence of short-video use on the Chinese cultural cognition,emotion and behavior intention.The empirical study found that different motivations of short videos used by foreign students would have different influences on their Chinese cultural identification.The stronger the motivations of entertainment and acquiring information are,the deeper the cultural cognition and emotion they will have.The stronger the motivation of acculturation is,the deeper the Chinese cultural emotion their will have.Compared with other mass media,short video plays a unique advantage in the level of cultural behavior.Due to the characteristics of immersive experience of short videos,there is a positive correlation between the satisfaction of the mimicry social needs obtained by foreign students and their Chinese cultural behavior.Also,the frequency of the user generated content production has a significant positive impact on the Chinese cultural behavior.In addition,the regression analysis showed that the intensity of online communication could not predict the Chinese cultural identification.The in-depth interview further explained the research results.Interviews have found that international students may have "exotic" cultural identity.As for the use of short videos,as viewers,their pay close attention to popular elements of Chinese culture.As content producers,international students often use traditional culture to shoot and create videos,deepening their identification in practice.The study links technology and culture through the mediating role of media.The impact of short videos on individuals’ intercultural identity puts intercultural communication under the context of visual symbols and provides new ideas and perspectives for the study of intercultural phenomena.The article explores the unique role of short video in the process of cross-cultural identification,and empirically analyzes the relationship between different dimensions of short-video use and the cultural identity of sojourners,enriching the domestic media use and cultural identity related research.
