晚清广西乡土社会中的少数民族士绅

【摘要】 本文所研究的对象,是晚清时期广西武缘(今武鸣)地区壮族士绅韦丰华。从秦汉至明清时期,中国传统社会的政治结构是国家政权与乡村社会自治的二元政治结构,在这一架构下,乡村社会的士绅既认同王朝政治,又具有儒家文化的修养,还有乡村社会的关系网络。士绅的这种特殊的社会地位与生存背景,使他们既是国家政权在基层社会的体现者,又是传统政治体制、伦理组织和乡土秩序的积极维护者,是统治阶层在地方社会的代表。在儒学思想和王朝统治的大传统影响下,在边疆地区也出现了少数民族士绅,他们和内地汉族地区的士绅一样,有着同样的社会身份,是传统士绅阶层不可分割的组成部分。同时,他们又不同于汉族地区的士绅,他们除了是基层组织的建设者、儒家文化的传播者之外,他们还肩负着维护边疆地区的社会稳定,维护封建王朝统治的政治使命。韦丰华组织团练、创办琴泉义学、复建岭山书院并在岭山书院执教、担任山长,对维护边疆地区的社会稳定,促进儒家文化在边疆地区的传播,做出了重大贡献。当然,晚清时期是新旧交替变革的历史时期,世界经济已经进入资本主义经济的时代,但韦丰华及其所属的阶层在本质上还属于传统社会的文人,他们是原有社会秩序的维护者,不属于新思想、新文化的代表,也就不具有新时代的革命精神。

【Abstract】 The essay aims at Wei Fenghua, gentry of Wuyuan area, Zhuang minority of Guangxi in late Qing Dynasty.From Qin & Han Dynasties to Ming & Qing dynasties, traditional Chinese society in Guangxi was based on the binary social structure of state ruling and region self—ruling. Under the special structure, the regional gentry (local intellectuals) on the one hand acknowledged central authorities, and on the other hand cultivated themselves with Confucian culture and developed their own community network of relationships. With the unique social status and living background, gentry hold varieties of statuses: agent of ruling class in primary-level society; class maintainer of traditional political system, ethics organizations and local social order. They are representatives of ruling class in grass-root level.Under the influence of Confucian thought and the great tradition of dynastic rule, gentry appeared in ethnic minority border areas. Sharing the same social status as those inland gentry, they are the integral part of the traditional gentry class. Meanwhile, they are different from the those inland gentry,. They are not only the constructionists of the lower class, but the promoters of Confucian culture. They took the responsibility of maintaining social stability of border area, as well as defending the dynastic ruling in the area.He organized local troops; offered free private school named Qinquan; rebuilt Lingshan School and taught there; he also held an executive position. He made great contributions to maintaining social stability, promoting Confucian culture in border area. Of course, the late Qing Dynasty held a position of alteration of generations. the world economy has entered the era of capitalist economy, but Wei Fenghua and his respective sectors, in essence, belongs to traditional society, they are the defenders of the existing social system, they are not representatives of innovative ideas and new culture ,they didn’t share revolutionary spirit of the new era.
