【Abstract】 "V₁OV₂ 的" is a unique verb construction in Mandarin Chinese. Based on the concept of anaphora, this paper analyzes the features of semantic and information structure as well as discourse pragmatic functions of the construction. Data analysis shows that "V₁OV₂的" is the ellipsis-substitution construction of "V₁OV₂ 得R", "的"of which refers back to the result complement of "得R" and serves as the marker of a complete sentence. Therefore,"V₁OV₂的" has the characteristics of "semantic focus" and "pragmatic focus". In a specific context, this special construction has discourse pragmatic functions of extending topic information, inferring the cause of the result, and transmitting conversational implicature.更多还原
