On Origin and Development of Myth of Egg Birth of Loong Mother in Baiyue Culture: Vietnamese Ancestor in Biography of H?ng Bàng
【Abstract】 Han ethnic group egg-laying myth is “One Egg-laying” type. The oral Egg-laying myths in southwest China and Southeast Asian countries are mostly the type of that the original ancestor was born in one cell(one flesh ball) with many eggs. The Vietnamese Biography of H?ng Bàng describes the myths and legends of the first male king of Vietnam and his offspring. Interpreting the Biography of H?ng Bàng, we can see the alien image of the archetype of the Loong Mother in Baiyue Cultural Circle in the south of Lingnan Area. The homogenous cultural connotation and narrative form indicate the far-reaching influence of Chinese culture in Lingnan Area and Southeast Asia. At the same time, it also reflects the close relationship via cultural exchange, communication and integration of the region. This kind of influence or correlation also proves that the Loong Mother egg myth of Lingnan Area-Baiyue Culture Circle is, to some extent, the root of the motif of this region’s egg myth.
