【Abstract】 The heroine Susan in To Room Nineteen is an intellectual female with a strong feminine self-consciousness and desire for independence and freedom.But the consciousness of freedom and independence was confined in that male-centered patriarchal society which made her inevitably in the depth of sufferings and despair with a continuous struggle.Although Lessing did not regard it as a symbol of women’s liberation movement,feminine consciousness in this novel did reflect the author’s feminist’s thoughts.更多还原
