On the Factors Influencing New-Generation Migrant Workers’ Willingness to Improve Employability ——An Empirical Study Based on a Survey in Zhejiang
【Abstract】 Based on the survey data, the influencing factors of the new-generation migrant workers’ willingness to improve employability are analyzed by using an ordered Logistic regression model. The results show that the influencing factors include age, training experience, family per capita income, employment and training policies of enterprises, and attitude towards industrial upgrading. The relationship between age and willingness is inverted U-shaped,and workers between the ages of 26-30 have the strongest willingness to improve their employability. The relationship between monthly family per capita income and willingness is V-shaped, and workers whose family per capita income is between 2501 to 3000 yuan have the least willingness while those whose family per capita income is more than 3000 yuan the highest. Training experience, attitude towards industrial upgrading, employment policy and training policy have significant positive effects on willingness. Furthermore, some policy solutions are suggested, such as improving the vocational skills training mechanism for the new-generation migrant workers, promoting the stable growth of their family income, guiding enterprises to improve human resource management policy, and improving the workers’ understanding of industrial upgrading.
